Our graduates work on a wide variety of challenging assignments, involving project and location moves that exercise their technical skills and develop them as leaders.
Patrick Mina - Process Engineer
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree with a design focus in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose State University of California. Whilst at University I completed an internship with a car manufacturing plant where I worked alongside quality control engineers on part and vehicle quality investigation and problem resolution.
I joined Morgan Technical Ceramics in September of 2009 as a Process Engineer. When I first started, I worked on process improvement projects to help improve custom made joining materials that were to be used in incredibly demanding applications. Working on these projects was both challenging and fun. I learned about the different technologies we use in the manufacturing of braze alloys, mainly our Pre-sintered Preform or PSP product. I really liked being able to apply my engineering education and knowledge to solve real customers’ technical problems. It is a great sense of achievement to help, as part of a team, get to grips with customers’ problems and, through working with other experts, design and devise solutions that work.
I am still involved in process improvement projects but I am now also involved with supporting new business development projects. I really enjoy working for Morgan Crucible. There are many opportunities to grow your technical capability and to develop as a leader. I attended the last Global Graduate Conference in Liverpool in the UK which enabled me to network with other graduates from across the world and each graduate was able to speak with the CEO of the Morgan Ceramics division. There are not many companies where you are given such exposure to senior leaders. They take an active interest in what we do as graduates and how we can further develop our careers.
